Lisa Mazenauer’s video installation uses archival material to examine the historical presence of okapis in Basel and the related colonial entanglements between Switzerland and what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Building on her film The Right to Forget from 2025, the work connects a statement by Mobutu Sese Seko and his donation of okapis to Basel Zoo with a practice dating back to the Belgian colonial era. Roman Weishaupt appears as an actor.
