Press reviews

“The joy of performance and the motivation were impossible to miss – and impossible not to hear. First and foremost, the 18 young people who, in their free time, threw themselves into this demanding piece with such enthusiasm and commitment, and ultimately brought it to the stage in such an energetic firework display of playfulness and pace, deserve the highest praise. Bravo!
Using the simplest of means – coloured adhesive tape, metres of plastic sheeting and wooden swords – Junge Theater Graubünden stages the conflict between an individual life plan and the demands of a highly developed, rationally structured society. Choral speech, dialogues, monologues and physical interpretation alternate, reflecting the full spectrum of the character Parzival.
It becomes deafeningly loud when Parzival expresses his joy at becoming a knight, or screams his disappointment out of his body when he fails to find the one he believed to be God. A witty highlight is the imaginatively staged ‘market of fortune’: a medieval fairground atmosphere, yellow rubber gloves as chicken feet, a giant lollipop, soap bubbles, wild cackling – and finally a leaf blower that blows happiness away.”
