An initiative for professional theatre with young people
Roman Weishaupt initiated the founding of Junges Theater Graubünden in October 2011 together with Chris Hunter and Corsin Zarn. As co-founder and artistic director, he played a formative role in establishing the non-profit association, based in Chur, and shaping its artistic direction.
Junges Theater Graubünden develops and presents professional theatre productions with young people from across the canton. Its theatre projects, workshops and holiday courses draw on Graubünden’s linguistic diversity and geographical characteristics, consciously incorporating them into the artistic process.
In 2016, Junges Theater Graubünden received a Swiss Theatre Award from the Federal Office of Culture.
Following Weishaupt’s appointment as director of Theater Chur, a team led by Corina Liechti and Brigitte Balzer took over the organisation’s leadership. It has since continued and further developed its work. Today, Junges Theater Graubünden is firmly established within Graubünden’s theatre landscape.
